Turning Crisis Into Transformation

Co-created in 2016 by Women Donors Network, Solidaire Network, and other partner donor networks, the Emergent Fund is a queer, women of color-led, movement-aligned participatory grantmaker with intersectional, collective liberation values. It resources rapid response and emergent organizing led by frontline Black, Indigenous, and organizers of color with trust-based, no strings attached grants.

In 2021, Emergent Fund:

• Funded Black liberation movements that unapologetically stood in defense of Black lives, with rapid response dollars going to Black-led organizing, electoral justice efforts, COVID support, and mutual aid.

• Put funding directly into the hands of Black women organizers and work centering Black women.

• Directed their largest investments towards structural change as a leading frontline funder for direct actions and mass mobilizations.
